Investigators first, through referals, we found Maria and Carmen. Maria is curious and asks a million questions while Carmen says absoutly nothing unless you ask her a question, but even then, she just gives you a one word response. But they're both interested, you can tell. They have a date for the 5th of April. Omar(Investigator we found yesterday) is more interested in the gospel than anyone I've ever seen since the beginning of my mission. He's searched a ton of churches thoughout his life so he's kinda wrapped up in typical Christian traditions, His prayers for example. But he's an awesome guy and has a date for the 12th of April. Hna. Melba was baptized on Saturday and her two daughters showed up! We were glad she had some family there to support her since she's got baptized alone. We might have to wait another week for Oriana to get baptized since she might go to Guayaquil soon. But she asked me to baptize her after her interview, so that's sweet!
On Wednesday we had to wake up at 6:00 to be at an investigator house of the hermanas in the ward to interview him for his baptism. He was leaving as we got there haha. Ahh... But we got ahold of him later that day and interviewed him after his work. We had our mini zone conference this week and it was interesting. We are doing the miracle though! We should have a ton of baptisms in March as a mission. Also, 9 Elders got sent home recently for iniquity. So we'll be fasting as a mission and we'll learn more about it today. We had to go to Esmeraldas for another zone conference.Monday, March 17, 2014

Ustedes no son de Aquí, ¿diga? (week 29)
So this week the providence of Esmeraldas finally finnished their festivals that lasted from Saturday to Tuesday. There were fireworks every night and these kids soaked us with buckets of water and sprayed us with foam. I actully enjoyed it since it was blazing hot that day and we were in P-day clothes at the time cause we did a service project for Antonio. We painted his entire house haha It was fun though. The people that live below us in our appartment own a green parrot and they were in Quito for the weekend so they left the dang thing in their garage so everytime we tried to leave, it tried to escape. I wouldn´t fly though, just run. On Monday night it escaped and we spent 20 minutes trying to get it in. We tried whistling, pushing it with a broom, luring it with cheese and everything... Finally I got it inside by grabbing it and picking it up from behind. Next time I wont be so nice. Polly want a foot? Haha
This week we finally got permision from Hna. Oriana's grandma for her baptism! She has a date for the 22nd of March now. Hna. Melba Leones had her interview on Sunday and is ready for her baptism this week! We're making the miracle. Familia Chimbu is still working on there marrage plans but that's comming along too. This week the goal will is to find people. We´ve spemt a lot of time on certain investigators getting them prepared and now we gotta start a new chapter. Also Alex Santos was baptized this week. He's a 16 year old investigator of the other Elders in our ward. Thursday we paired up with the hermanas and worked in their sector. They have by far the most members out of the 3 sectors here in Quinindé. So I learned where a lot of them live this week finally. On friday the bishop took us to all of the less actives in our boundaries. We finally have less actives to work with. That's a number we can definatly raise. Saturday we did splits with the other Elders and I led Elder Gonzalez through our sector. He's a pretty funny guy. He jokes around with the members and investigators a ton haha.
On Sunday we took a trip to Esmeraldas because Elder Macalopu had to interview an investigator of the other district leader. The zone leaders couldn't do it since they`ve taught him before. I watched Elder Guild's trainer die, Elder Bautista. ¡Se Morió, Bautista! He was the zone leader of the other zone in Esmeraldas so Elder Morton had to stay with my zone leaders, Elder Pop and Elder Kingsford. I also stayed with them with my companion was with Elder Gomez, interviewing his investigator. Elder Kingsford is awesome, he showed me a cookie dough recipe that I'm making this week! YEAH!! COOKIE DOUGH!! They all have a ton of experience so they shared their funny mission stories with me. Most of them have to do with Jehova's witnesses or drunks that don't like the United States haha. This morning Elder Gonzales had emergency changes and was assigned to be a district leader in Ibarra. So Elder Bustillo will spend a week or two in Esmeraldas with Elder Gomez until the changes. So for now, were holding down Quinindé, with the sister missionaries, of coarse!
Esa fue mi quarta semana aquí en Quinindé. Espero que cada uno de ustedes tienen una buena semana. ¡Les quiero mucho! Hasta que nos encontramos

Quinin-hey (week 28)
This week has been a funny week. First off on Tuesday morning a random large bird flew into our appartment through this tini window and scared me to death. I flew right by my face and then it flew into the bathroom so I trapped it in there. As we were leaving I opened the bathroom door and the big window so it would fly out later, thankfully it did. We have lunch with the other missionaries as well on Tuesdays and while we were helping cook chicken and carne on the grill, Elder Bustillo got hit by a random giant brown fruit on the back of the neck and it stained his shirt bad hahaha. I busted up laughing. Pobrecito... Elder Pop(Zone Leader) was messing with a pigeon and it attacked him. So that was fun. Also a 16 year old kid caught a bat 10 minutes before sacrament meeting and was showing it off to the primary kids. We were playing soccer today and I was playing goalie got hit it the face by a soccer ball hard. But I stopped the ball! Hahaha... Qué loco, diga?
This week we baptized Anthony & Joao Miraba! They are 8 and 9 years old but we taught them together. We were just randomly visiting a member family and they told us that they weren't baptized yet so we taught them a lesson every day and baptized them the same week haha. Our solid investigator with a date is Hna. Melba. She's about 50 years old. She's commited to be baptized on the 15h of March. She's had missionaries visit her before but she's had some problems that have stopped her from being baptized. But she's all good now. We have a marrage date for familia Melba so that's their first goal. We also worked hard on Gabi and familia Mendez this week. Next week we need to find some new investigators. The mission goal in March is for each zone to have at least 2 baptisms every week. There`re certain rewards for the zones that do it. ¡Y zona San Rafael es El Mejor! ¡Y, tenemos las únicas hermanas en toda la costa! ¡Pilas!Tuesday, February 25, 2014
El Cuarto Misionero (week 27)
Two reasons why the subject is called "El Cuarto Misionaro"... First of all. As a mission, our mission president, president Richardson challenged us to read "The Fourth Missionary" several times through February and January. It talks about 4 different types of missionaries and helps missionaries realize what they can become. I actully read it in the MTC once before but now I've read it twice in the mission since the challenge... The other reason is(Thanks to the calculations of my companion) I now am 1/4 the way through my mission as of today, and I'm wondering what happened to the time.
I did splits with Elder Bustillo in his sector this last Tuesday and our momita fed us fish eggs. The taste was so weird, I couldn't decide if I liked it or not, but I ate all of it like always... Also I ate orange chicken later in the week and I've never had anything like that in the mission until now...We had a couple of good lessons that day and then watched "The John Tanner Story" with an investigator family and they loved it! They wanted to watch another so we watched "The Stonecutter" video too. We then talked about the two videos after and bared testimonies. It was such a simple lesson but the spirit was super strong. I then answered like 100 questions that the dad had about the Book of Mormon and then gave him the book and told him that all of the answers are in here and you have to find them. We also left the DVD with them so they can watch The Restoration too. Their sector has one huge hill that we walked up and down like 5 times, which was super joyful.
On Thursday we had interviews with the pres in Esmeraldas and they gave us lessons on "The Fourth Missionary", the area book, and basically all of Chapter 8 of PMG. I always learn new things from them. My interview was shorter since I just had one about 3 weeks ago. We had the district meeting on Friday morning instead of Thursday and the zone leaders came up to do splits with us and interview some of our investigators. Plus, I recieved like 3 packages from Christmas all at the same time. So that was awesome!
Lady Valdez and Miguel Cevallos were baptized this last Saturday! It was so awesome! Elder Macalopu baptized Lady and a ward friend of Miguel baptized him. I conducted the baptism and taught Lesson 3 while they were changing. They were both confermed yesterday. These guys are solid and I'm sure they'll "Endure to the End". Miguel also brought his family to his baptism and to church so we'll try to teach them soon; Miguel will be an awesome example for them. Speaking ofSunday, we weren`t allowed to leave because this place can get crazy during elections. We only went to sacrament meeting and then tried to entertain ourselves for the rest of the day. We studied, watched church videos, and slept all day long. I felt super weird as a missionary doing almost nothing.
Espero que ustedes tienen una semana bien bacán! Les amo todo de ustedes!
